Dublin City
Dublin, Ireland's Capital, the seat of Government and its largest city.
Dublin city possesses a rare charm, which can be felt by all who visit its streets.
Over the centuries Dublin has been known by many names, Eblana, Dubh Linn (Black Pool),
Baile Atha Cliath (Town of the Ford of the Hurdles) but no matter what the name the unique ambiance of this city has been recognised by all who pass through.
The city is centred on the river Liffey and Dublin Bay and most of the historic buildings and landmarks are within walking distance of O'Connell Bridge.
To the north is O'Connell Street, one of the main shopping areas of Dublin and dominated by the beautiful G.P.O. building and the "Spike".
To the south of the bridge lies Trinity College, the oldest college in Ireland and home of illuminated manuscripts such the Book of Kells and other national treasures. Within a short stroll you can also visit Dublin Castle, the National Art Gallery, the Natural History museum, the Nation Genealogy Centre or the leafy trails in Stephen's Green.
West along the river is the famous Ha'penny Bridge, and an archway that leads into Temple Bar. This is Dublin's modern cultural heart with galleries, theatres, cafes, bars and interesting shops lining the narrow cobbled lanes.
To the East along the river lies The Custom House, a fine example of Georgian architecture. Next to it is the newly developed financial centre of Dublin city.
As with any town in the world, Dublin city's heart is its people and you will not find a warmer welcome than here.
